For most of my life, I followed the classic pattern of “dieting my way to obesity.”  I’d lose weight, then gain it all back, and more.  Every year, it seemed that my weight was at an all-time high.  Finally, I decided I wanted to break that cycle.  One of my fit friends referred me to John Stewart.  We started working out three times a week.  John designed a manageable workout program that gave me results almost immediately.  Pretty soon, I noticed how much better I felt and how much more energy I had.  My once-tight clothes had become loose.   As we continued the workouts, little by little, John taught me how to change my eating habits.  The more I worked out with him, and the more I took his advice about food, the more weight I lost.  No crazy diet plans, no food diaries.  He gave me a realistic workout program and sensible nutritional advice that I could follow. 

          And it worked!  Since I’ve been training with John, and thanks to his advice about food, I’ve lost 34 pounds.  Today my worst problem is that it’s tough to get dressed in the morning because all my clothes are too big!   Not only have I lost weight, I’ve developed that lean, defined look I’ve always dreamed of.   John Stewart showed me how to accomplish what I never thought was possible.  Thanks to John, for the first time ever, I can say, “I love my body!”

Three-and-a-half years ago at age 57, I had emergency surgery for a life-threatening illness. Three weeks later, I left the hospital with a walker--my muscles were barely functioning due to the extent of the illness and the length of time in a hospital bed.  At the beginning of 2004, I started working with a rehab trainer and continued for two years at which time she told me I was ready to move on.  By chance, I saw John’s ad in the Napa Valley Marketplace and decided to call him.  I started working out with John twice a week, making lots of progress and enjoying it! I said “working with a personal trainer is terrific” so many times that my husband decided to try it! The story continues . . .

After my wife, Nancy, impressed upon me for at least 6 months how much I might benefit from John’s personal training, I decided to give it a try—particularly since I was in my 2nd> year of a chronic and very painful groin injury I sustained at age 62 and that medical professionals had not been able to cure.&nbsWithin 3 months of John’s carefully prescribed stretching and strengthening exercises, my groin problem has faded away.  As a bonus, I am also now physically able to do many activities painlessly—activities that had become too uncomfortable to endure.  I thought this was just the inevitable effects of aging, but to my surprise it was reversible, thanks to John.
